Cylinder Calculator
Volume & Surface Area ⚡
Enter the radius and height of a cylinder to instantly calculate its volume, total surface area, and lateral surface area.
Enter the radius and height of a cylinder to instantly calculate its volume, total surface area, and lateral surface area.
Volume: V = π × r² × h
Lateral Surface Area: LSA = 2π × r × h
Total Surface Area: TSA = 2π × r × (r + h)
What is the difference between lateral and total surface area?
The lateral surface area is just the curved side of the cylinder — like the label on a can. The total surface area includes both circular ends as well.
What units does the calculator use?
Any consistent unit. If radius and height are in cm, volume is in cm³ and surface areas are in cm².
How do I find the volume of a hollow cylinder?
Calculate the volume of the outer cylinder, then subtract the volume of the inner cylinder using the inner radius.
