What is VAT?

How to Add VAT

Multiply the net (ex-VAT) amount by 1 plus the VAT rate as a decimal.

Formula: Gross = Net ร— (1 + VAT Rate รท 100)

Example: ยฃ100 + 20% VAT = ยฃ100 ร— 1.20 = ยฃ120

How to Remove VAT

Divide the gross (inc-VAT) amount by 1 plus the VAT rate as a decimal.

Formula: Net = Gross รท (1 + VAT Rate รท 100)

Example: ยฃ120 รท 1.20 = ยฃ100 net, ยฃ20 VAT
